Park Updates


Banff

  • Reservations for the Parks Canada shuttle for Lake Louise & Moraine Lake open April 15th at 8:00 am MDT. Some reservations available 2 days before departure time at 8:00 am beginning May 13th. Find out more information. Roam bus tickets are available for Lake Louise only. Learn more here.
  • The following sites are currently closed in Banff: Bow Glacier Falls, Banff Upper Hot Springs, the Banff Park Museum, and the west side of the Minnewanka Loop.
  • Check the Parks Canada website for seasonal closures and restrictions.

Bryce

No vehicle reservations are required. The shuttle will begin running in April.

  • The following sites are currently closed: Wall Street side of the Navajo Loop Trail, the Bryce Connector Trail (between Bryce Point and Peekaboo Loop), and the roads to Paria View and Fairyland Point are closed to vehicles.

Capitol Reef

No vehicle reservations are required.

  • Gifford House is open for the season and fruit trees are blooming.
  • Check the National Park Website for other updates and conditions.

Glacier

Visitors who wish to park longer than 3 hours at Logan Pass will need to book a ticket on the hiker’s shuttle. No further details have been released

  • The Two Medicine Area will be closed in Spring and Fall for a rehabilitation project
  • The Going-to-the-Sun Road is currently closed
  • Visit the National Park Website for other updates and conditions

Grand Canyon

No vehicle reservations are required for any of the entrances

  • North Rim is scheduled to reopen May 15th
  • Overnight camping at Phantom Ranch is suspended until June 30th
  • Purple (Tusayan) shuttle is closed until summer
  • Check the National Park Website for daily updates and trail closures

Grand Teton

  • Teton Park Road is closed to vehicles from November 1st to April 30th. Moose-Wilson Road is closed from November 1st to mid-May.
  • Jenny Lake Boat Company is closed for winter and will reopen on May 15th

Jasper

  • Roads are open, but make sure to have adequate tires (chains)
  • The Valley of the 5 Lakes Trail, Wabasso Lakes Trail, and Curatro Trail will reopen in the summer.
  • Maligne Canyon and Cavell Road will remain closed for the entire 2026 season

Moab, Arches, and Canyonlands

Arches National Park announced on 2/18/2026 that it will no longer have a timed-entry system

  • No vehicle reservations required for Canyonlands

Mount Rainier

No timed entry will be required in 2026

  • Sunrise Road, Stevens Canyon Road, SR 123/Cayuse Pass, SR 410/Chinook Pass, Carbon/Mowich, Westside Road, and White River Road all remain closed

Mt Rushmore and the Black Hills

No vehicle reservations are required.

  • Custer State Park has a fire that is mostly contained
  • Jewel Cave and Wind Cave require separate tickets for ranger-guided cave tours. Tickets should be bought in advance at recreation.gov.

Olympic

No vehicle reservations are required.

  • Sol Duc Area and road are now open for the season
  • Hurricane Ridge is currently closed Mondays through Thursdays
  • The road to the Hoh Rainforest is open.

Rocky Mountain

  • “Timed Entry” permits (not Bear Lake Road) are required 9 am–2 pm, May 22–October 12. “Timed Entry + Bear Lake Road” permits are required 5 am–6 pm, May 22–October 18. Reservations for May 22nd-June 30th available May 1st at 8:00am MDT. Some reservations available the day before at 7:00pm MDT. Visit recreation.gov for all reservations.
  • Trailridge and Old Fall River are currently closed for winter. Also, Wild Basin, Endo Valley, and Upper Beavers Road are closed.

Yellowstone

No vehicle reservations required

  • For regular vehicles, the only open road remains the North Entrance↔ Mammoth ↔ Tower Junction ↔ Lamar Valley ↔ Cooke City / Silver Gate. All other park roads are closed to normal wheeled traffic.
  • Beartooth Highway is closed
  • Anticipated road openings are in April and May

Zion

No vehicle or shuttle reservations required. Learn more about the shuttles here.

  • Riding the shuttle is required to enter Zion Canyon
  • Beginning June 7th, RV and vehicle restrictions will be in place for the Zion Mt Carmel Tunnel. Read more on the NPS website.
  • Permit required to do the chain section of Angels Landing. The next lottery for permits for Jun 1st to Aug 31st will be Apr 1st-20th. Check the NPS website for updates. Day before reservations are available 12:01 am–3:00 pm MDT at recreation.gov.
